John 14:7-9–My thoughts

27 11 2011

So I just opened up my Bible to John 14:7-8. It reads “’If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him. ‘Philip said to him, ‘Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.’”

I think it is interesting that Philip say “Show us the Father” right after Jesus said you have seen Him.

I’m thinking was Philip daydreaming or something? Did he not even believe all the word Jesus said? Was Philip really speaking for all the disciples when he said “us”? Or did the other disciple do like a NCIS back of the slap to him?

I know there is been times where God has spoken to me and I’ve done stuff like that. “Are you sure God” “You really want ME to do that” but I can only image what it would have been like to be face to face with the Messiah and ask Him something that He just got done talking about.

I know I would have been like were you NOT JUST LISTENING TO ME? However Jesus is not the same He has a lot more patience and compassion than any man could have. I guess that is why Jesus says in verse 9 “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?”
